More about the event
Throughout her accomplished career, her efforts to promote conversation about race have resulted in her critically acclaimed book, The Grace of Silence: A Memoir. She received accolades for a Peabody Award-winning initiative, “The Race Card Project,” which fosters conversation among individuals about their differences. Norris was previously the director of “The Bridge”—the Aspen Institute's program on race, cultural identity, and inclusion—which addresses some of America's most complex issues by encouraging people to explore and engage with differing perspectives.
We encourage you to take a look at The Race Card Project made specifically for Olmsted County residents, to prepare yourself for the engagement piece of our event and share your own story as well. Michele will be focusing her speech on her own experiences with race and her findings through The Race Card Project. We encourage you to think about your own experiences, be curious, ask questions and be gracious with yourselves and with your neighbors as we learn today. And as important, continue to be gracious with one another as we carry on in our shared work to create a more equitable community.
Thank you for LIVING UNITED!
